Passed an EICR... Hmm

We love our work but sometimes you wonder if other people do quite as much. When you find houses where the potentially life threatening services are in bad repair we wonder if there's any point in having checks done at all. This is a classic example of a house with an EICR completed but a screw through the faceplate. We accept it may have been the tenant but it had passed recently and with a new tenant moving in the next day we wonder if the certificate was issued without a full check.
Not that other trades are any better, building an entire kitchen over the fuse board and RCDs making access impossible is one of the strangest ones we've seen. Only found due to the property needing an EICR. Access is needed at all times to consumer units. We had to modify an already installed kitchen to allow easier access for the tenant and electrician.
